With Conventillo de Lujo as your home base you have easy access to the many activities of Palermo, the relaxing surroundings of Belgrano and good transport links to the centre. Palermo has become very popular in the last few years for boutique designer shops, restaurants and a lively nightlife. Belgrano, in contrast is a classic area of old villas, some of which are beautifully kept, turned into Embassies and luxurious private residences.

Milongas

There is a wide variety of milongas, both traditional and modern, nearby. Pick up a guide when you arrive and we will be happy to tell you about the different choices available and how to get there. In particular you may have heard of Salon Canning which is a short taxi ride away and Villa Malcolm and La Viruta for a more modern feel, La Milonguita is a more traditional milonga, with a friendly atmosphere – it is very local, you can walk there in a few minutes. In the summer, La Glorieta is a wonderful open air milonga and again that is very close – just two stops on the subte or a lovely walk on a nice evening

Conventillo de Lujo is just two blocks away from the busy Avenida Cabildo, which follows on from Santa Fe and has lots of shops including clothes, music and gifts.

There are good restaurants catering for fast food, excellent grills and a local macrobiotic (health food) restaurant.

A wealth of coffee shops offer a relaxing break and delicious local pastries (media lunas and facturas). There are also very good ice cream parlors, with a wide choice of flavors.

Las Canitas, popular for its nightlife, is a short walk away and has a wide variety of bars and restaurants.

There is a small supermarket at the corner of Matienzo and Cabildo. Further towards the subte (subway) is Coto, a large supermarket with everything you could need.

The Megatlón Club (gymnasium, swimming-pool, sauna) is nearby and there are several Pilates studios.

There is one of the best recognized hairdressers in Buenos Aires – Oscar Columbo very close on Cabildo as well as other small salons, all offering hair and beauty treatments.

The Polo ground, Campo Argentino de Polo, is walking distance and horse racing courses are nearby.

There is a large park nearby which is very relaxing. You can sit, walk, hire a bike for a ride or hire a paddle boat on the lake in the summer.
